When will you see cataract surgery results and how long will they last?
In this video, Dr. Erik Chotiner explains when you will see cataract surgery results and how long they will last.
How quickly you see results varies from patient to patient depending on how significant the cataract is and how quickly their eye naturally recovers. Some patients see a difference in their vision right after the surgery in the recovery room. Most patients will be seeing better the next morning. The vision continues to improve over the first several weeks after surgery.
The results of cataract surgery are designed to last for a lifetime. The lens implants and their optical performance are manufactured to far outlast our lifetime. However, suppose a patient develops a problem later in life in their retina or in another part of their eye. In that case, the quality of vision may be affected.
We can guarantee that the lens implant will stay pristine for the rest of your life. Still, our optical system also includes the cornea, retina and optic nerve, which may be affected by other conditions. The lens implant will continue to give you great vision forever.
