What are the laser blended vision risks?

Modern Laser blended vision surgery utilizing LASIK or PRK is extremely safe and effective. Millions and millions of procedures have been performed worldwide. But like any surgery, there are some associated risks, and even though they are rare, you must know about them before surgery.

There may occasionally be under corrections or overcorrections, which are normally easily addressed with laser enhancements. In less than 1% of patients, a small wrinkle may be observed in the LASIK flap on the first day after surgery. These are typically easily smoothed out at the first-day visit.

After the flap has healed past the first day, wrinkles in the flap are extremely rare. After LASIK, individuals may experience some temporary dryness that resolves on its own. Serious problems that can affect the vision after LASIK, such as infection, are extremely rare and are less than one in 20 thousand. The risk of losing vision in an eye from LASIK is less than 1 in 3 million.
