What are premium cataract surgery risks?
In this post, Dr. Eric Chotiner discusses the risks of Premium Cataract Surgery, its safety considerations and how less than 1% of people have mild post-operative complications such as eye inflammation.
Fortunately, refractive cataract surgery is one of the safest and most common procedures performed worldwide. However, no procedure is completely without risk and over 99 percent of patients will have a very smooth and uncomplicated post-operative course. A very small percent will have a mild post-operative complication which will delay the healing, but not result in any permanent damage.
For instance, some individuals may experience a prolonged course of inflammation in the eye that may take a bit longer to heal. The risk of a more serious complication such as an infection is extremely remote and is less than one in five thousand people.
