Take control of glaucoma with iDose® TR

Discover an innovative treatment designed to lower eye pressure and reduce your dependence on daily glaucoma eye drops.

For many people with glaucoma, keeping eye pressure under control means using prescription eye drops every day. Memorial Eye Institute is pleased to offer iDose® TR, an innovative treatment designed to provide continuous glaucoma medication from inside the eye, helping appropriate patients reduce or eliminate their dependence on daily glaucoma eye drops.

iDose TR offers another option in the growing field of interventional glaucoma care, giving patients and their doctors an opportunity to manage eye pressure while reducing the daily burden of treatment.

iDose TR is a tiny implant designed to continuously deliver a glaucoma medication called travoprost directly inside the eye. It is FDA approved to reduce intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension.

Unlike traditional glaucoma eye drops that require patients to remember to administer medication every day, iDose TR provides continuous treatment from inside the eye.

For appropriate patients, iDose TR may provide several important benefits, including:

  • Effective, sustained reduction of eye pressure
  • Reduced or eliminated dependence on daily glaucoma eye drops
  • Consistent delivery of medication directly inside the eye
  • Less concern about remembering to use glaucoma drops correctly and consistently
  • An additional treatment option that may help delay the need for more invasive glaucoma procedures

iDose TR may be an option for adults with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension who need treatment to lower their eye pressure.

It may be particularly beneficial for patients who have difficulty remembering or administering daily eye drops, experience challenges associated with topical glaucoma medications, or are interested in reducing the burden of their daily treatment routine.

Not every glaucoma treatment is appropriate for every patient. Your Memorial Eye Institute physician will evaluate your eye health, current eye pressure, glaucoma severity, treatment history and other factors to determine whether iDose TR is an appropriate option for you.

iDose TR is implanted through a small incision and positioned inside the eye, where it continuously releases medication to help control eye pressure. Once implanted, patients do not need to do anything to activate the device or administer medication from it.

Your Memorial Eye Institute team will continue to monitor your eye pressure and glaucoma following treatment. Because glaucoma is a chronic condition that can progress without noticeable symptoms, ongoing follow-up care remains important even when your eye pressure is well controlled.

Glaucoma treatment has evolved beyond relying solely on daily eye drops. At Memorial Eye Institute, our physicians offer a range of medical, laser and surgical treatment options, allowing us to develop an individualized approach based on each patient’s needs.

Options may include prescription medications, iDose TR, Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT), minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), and traditional glaucoma surgery.

Our goal is not only to lower eye pressure, but also to help preserve your vision while minimizing the burden of glaucoma treatment whenever possible.

If you have open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension and would like to learn more about reducing your dependence on daily glaucoma eye drops, talk with the glaucoma team at Memorial Eye Institute.

Schedule an evaluation today to find out whether iDose TR or another advanced glaucoma treatment may be right for you.

Thousands of happy cataract surgery patients in Central PA

We help people in and around the Harrisburg community live it up with better vision AFTER CATARACTS

My wait time was minimal and I was pleased to note the furniture arrangement for social distancing and the sanitation practices in progress. All in all it was a much more relaxing experience than I anticipated and I was impressed by the procedures taken to assure safe practices for the safety of the patients and staff while reducing stress on the patients.

I had cataract surgery and correction of an astigmatism. In one word……excellent!

Ray Jaffev

First time in 78 years I can see well without prescription lenses! I was apprehensive to have any elective surgery during the pandemic with my age and health history. The staff sensed it and made an effort to deal with it very professionally.

W.H.R

I am a first time patient at your practice. Everyone was so nice and knowledgeable. Overall it was a great experience. I did not realize how bad my vision was. I am amazed! The get well flowers were a nice touch!

J.B.

I was somewhat jittery about returning to the office after the COVID restrictions were lifted. My concerns were put to rest from the moment I stepped through the door and was greeted by an associate who took my temperature, asked pertinent questions, and offered hand sanitizer, as well as being very friendly. The check in and co-pay payment went equally as smoothly.

C.J.S

The staff and doctor were very accommodating. Always on time, if not earlier with appointments. The surgical staff was very attentive to any needs such as extra blankets if needed, and making sure you were comfortable while you waited for your surgery.

Pam C

I am so glad the doctor suggested LRI with my cataract surgery. I had never heard of it but it is amazing how my astigmatism is dissipating slowly and it is the reason I started wearing glasses 30 years ago! Even working around pandemic guidelines everyone is polite and cooperates as a team.
