What is premium cataract surgery? How does it work?
Premium cataract surgery is a painless outpatient surgery performed to not only remove a clouded lens inside of the eye like we do for basic cataract surgery, but simultaneously, we take the opportunity to address a patient’s focusing problem so that we can minimize or remove the need for glasses or contacts after the surgery. While basic cataract surgery can correct near-sightedness or far-sightedness, it does not correct astigmatism or address the need for reading glasses following surgery. Premium surgery does just that; astigmatism can be corrected with a laser or with a premium astigmatism correcting lens implant, while a premium multifocal or accommodating lens implant may be placed to allow patients to have a full range of vision without glasses: they can see both to read and to drive without glasses or contact lenses.
