A great alternative if you’re unsuitable for laser eye surgery
DISCOVER HOW IMPLANTABLE COLLAMER LENSES FREE YOU FROM GLASSES AND CONTACT LENSES
For adults aged 21-45 years of age with a stable prescription for one year, we offer our patients Visian implantable contact lenses.
We will assess your eyes thoroughly at your consultation to ensure that you’re suitable.
ICLs are a great treatment if you are unsuitable for laser eye surgery or if you have a high degree of refractive error.
Recovery after ICL surgery is much quicker than laser eye surgery, and it is also reversible.
ICLs are also a safer alternative to refractive lens exchange.
Patients who have a higher degree of myopia are at an increased risk of complications.
Rare complications include:
- Rotation of a toric lens
- Pupillary block
- Retinal detachment
- Elevated IOP
We will discuss these risks with you in detail at your consultation.
Step 1: We anaesthetise the eye using a topical anaesthetic drop. We typically perform the surgery on both eyes on the same day.
Step 2: We dilate the pupil and make a small incision in the cornea.
Step 3: We place the ICL between the normal lens and the iris.
Step 4: Patients are seen immediately after surgery to ensure the lens is sitting correctly.
Step 5: We will prescribe patients antibiotic eye drops for one week, and topical steroid eye drops for approximately 2 to 4 weeks.
